LIRA -L1A, Lenght = 49 cm Width = 26 cm

LIRA -L1C, Lenght = 49 cm Width = 53 cm

Design:

LIRA L1A: Looks like a flag with triangle on the short side. At the upper side a wood rod is inserted and hanging cord attached.

LIRA L1B: Two embroidered strips on each side were added to the original LIRA as an additional decoration.

LIRA L1C: To the above design two smaller strips were added which lend a folkloric meaning and strong presence to the LIRA.

 

Decoration: the term "Lira" denotes a name of a coin in circulation in this area in the 20th century. Adapted by Bedouin woman as part of their head and face decoration , it symbolized economic wealth and security.

 

Usage of the EAR of CORN motif is quite common and symbolizes plenty. It is based on a traditional motif used on the front of the woman's dress.
